Panel(s) of the Week: not from this week’s issues, but I did JUST find out about Karl Kerschl’s The Abominable Charles Christopher which manages to be sometimes funny, sometimes sad, but always endearing and beautifully drawn.
It’s getting warm (kinda… right?). I want to go see the tigers at the zoo.
The Obama’s got that cute Portugese Water Dog, so I guess they didn’t want to go with my suggestion…
sometimes later is better than never.
In Russia even some of the dogs are commuting.
If this clip is any indication, I really want to start watching In The Loop.
Trying To Follow is starting a Stories of Creative Non-Violence series… I will try to follow.
There is not enough profanity in the entire world for this collection of shitheads.
If you took the same Historical Theory classes I did, you might want to check out this article on The Revenge of Geography by Doc Robert Kaplan.
Wanna go to Cleveland? yeah, me either.
Ever wonder what would have happened if Kraftwerk were born in Iowa?
Somtimes I dream of blogs that someone should make. Sometimes those dreams come true. And then there’s the ones you didn’t even think of but are STILL a dream come true.

Panel Of The Week: Always been a fan of A) Hulk with the short, almost Capucine-esque ‘do’  B) The “single tear” convention. Also, not a lot to pull from in this relatively light week. (via Ultimate Hulk vs. Wolverine #4… Guess they’re finally going to actually finish this one up)
Saying "WTF Russia?" is redundant, right?
Archivist and Librarian friends are LOL-ing at this #AmazonFail episode. They obviously have some serious (and pathetic) problems with metadata.
I can’t help but fear that I will wind up on a photo-blog like this someday.
When we fight monsters we must be careful lest we become monsters.
Today was a day for some great news, though, on the front of medicine and in the realm of justice.

So you’re telling me the same people who compare Obama to Hitler also dress their kids as little Hitler Jugen? Wow.
Wouldn’t it be nice to see Dick Cheney locked up in a foreign prison?
During the depression of the 1930’s, we made some pretty great choices. These days… Not so much.
Of course, can’t give The so-called “Greatest Generation” too much credit since they were some of the primary players in turning this country into exactly what they thought they were railing against.
I wish very bad things upon Bruce Ratner.
Of course, times like these where all the news is ever so frustrating, it’s good to take a large step back and get some universal perspective.
And finally, Warren Ellis put together a fantastic elclectic mix for you. Won’t you please enjoy?

Panel of the week: The Thing +A Monocle… I don’t care that it doesn’t make sense how that thing stays on there, this is awesome. (via Dark Reign: Fantastic Four #2)
Any atom/space heads out there celebrating Yuri’s Night?
Someone needs to stop Japan… but it may already be too late.
A debate over a possible old school emoticon reminded me that Ambrose Bierce was amazing.
Crazy in love, right now, with the work of Catalogtree.
A new impossible-to-translate word to add to your repetoire.

God is watching us, from a distance (of approximately 700 Light-years away)… The Helix Nebula which you can find (with the right equipment) in the constellation Aquarius.
How are our scientists going to fight the robots when THEY HAVE THEIR OWN ROBOT SCIENTISTS? (apparently they’re going to colonize the moon before we do too.)
I am an archivist who learns kung fu… turns out it’s a good skill to know in the library and archives profession.
If i’ve told you once, i’ve told you a thousand times, You should be watching Sarah Haskins.
Super Europe-bros. 3.
Have you seen this dog? BECAUSE HE IS AWESOME.
Old news but… it’s really time to throw in the towel and give up on Iraq. And probably Afghanistan too.
Come find me this weekend and we shall sit and sip whiskey and pretend we are gruff figures striding across the frontier West.
Enjoy your weekends. And I was serious about that whiskey.

A nice capture from the great Flickr set A Zoo York State Of Mind: 1985-1993
Those looking for work, read this carefully: “Under the new bill, officials would place marijuana into one of three tax classes, depending on quality. The Control Authority would be charged with testing the quality of the marijuana to determine its tax bracket… “
Economists seem to be pretty fucking slow to come around on the obvious.
Another Meet The New Boss, Same As The Old Boss story.
If that last link made you a bit peeved, you might like this story that some groups (led by Libraries!) are taking on Obama for his bullshit policies regarding copyright and the RIAA.
I might have a new favorite sculpture in New York.
Obligatory Mega Man art link.
I hope the TSA isn’t TRAINED to do interrogations… Because if they are, the recorded evidence makes them look pretty fucking pathetic students of that training.
For you Chip-Music enthusiasts, Winter Chip IV results are up.
And finally… Will I ever be able to resist puppy dogs in ridiculous costumes?

I understand the motivation for this… But why does it come in Blue, Purple, and Green????
Best name for a caveman ever.
What’s that? Pork consumption SAVED an animal from extinction? Read it and weep, you PETA moron whackadoodles.
Probably April Fools related, but this is a great idea for google maps.
